Three fjords shape the coastline around Djúpivogur: Berufjörður, Hamarsfjörður, and Álftafjörður. The small town occupies a peninsula between two of them in eastern Iceland’s Austurland region, near the island of Papey. Its former municipality brought together the rural communities of Berunes, Buland, and Geithellur in 1992.
